OJ was a very smart man when it came to being a businessman. He became a very rich person due to many carriers. He became one of the most popular athlete who was ever know. His football career was the most successful part of him, he tried many other carriers. He was able to make many commercials with the help of white Americans who supported him. His commercials started when he came up with the idea of “Hertz”. Other than football he tried being a Hollywood actor, he was part of many movies but he wasn't so good. Every white person who knew him, viewed him as OJ and not for an African American. He was a “black man with white features”. Many African Americans hated him because he never got involved in the injustice of police brutality and black rights.
O.J s not in the wrong for wanting to be viewed as just O.J. We all do not like when our race is brought up in any situation. We want to create a name for ourselves and that is what O.J did. he created a name for himself. But like whispers was saying, where he came from is what made him get to where he was at in life. When you help someone come up you expect them to help you, and he couldn't even make a little comment on the police brutality. But what I also noticed about O.J is that he also never advertised peace. Never really encouraged any sides to feel a type of way.
ReplyDeleteI agree that OJ was a very known man with many careers. Due to OJ having many careers,Many other fellow African Americans believed that OJ was betraying them because he was more focused on himself and not participating in the boycott.OJ wanted the world to view him as OJ Simpson and not label him as a black man.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I don't understand why you think OJ used his fame for good. What exactly did OJ do that was "good"? He was a good businessman? Sure, that's good for him, but in the grand scale of things, I wouldn't exactly call that good. I'm interested in hearing you expand on why you think he used it for good, because, in my opinion, nothing he did was exactly "good" for the world, just good for himself.
ReplyDeleteI think you meant that OJ was using his fame for his own good. He was trying to become a race-less figure and wanted respect from all races. People only thought that he was doing certain things for his own good because he did not want to use his platform to speak up on racial injustice.
ReplyDeleteI feel you are right that all his fame went to his head and he used that for his own good. By the commercials and the football career not just that but also the way he talked to white people and how he got the many girls that he had affairs with. He used his fame also to escape the grab of the law and he actually got away with it. His friends and other people that knew him didn't believe he could hurt Nicole until they saw the pictures of her beaten badly after their "fights"
