Fanatic attacks

In class we discussed why sport fans argue against rivals, and sometimes end up causing a huge scene. At the US vs Jamaica final in the gold cup, i was hoping that Jamaica would win the soccer game. I wanted them to get the sense of fame for making it so far. The guy sitting next to me was cheering for USA. The guy next to me was white and looked like he was one of those big fanatics. He kept the anger in until USA final scored a goal. He jumped off his seat, with rage he turned to me and screamed even louder. He said ¨Don't think i didn't notice you cheering for Jamaica¨. I actually thought we were going to start a fight over this. I but after the game he apologized and basically said he was just excited. It seems like the culture of sports changes the mentality. The fact that it's just a game and that we both just cheer for a different team. There is no need for aggressive attacks, the athletes don't even get that raged at each other and they are the ones playing.

  1. Yes, i've been in your shoes dude. Once during a warriors game a fan from the bulls started yelling at my family and i because the bulls finally took the lead. I think people should have more self control because if my dad or uncle were jerks they would of done something to him.

  2. I personally have also experienced this when I went to the Copa America quarter finals (Mexico vs Chile). I remember seeing all of the Mexican fans basically take over the whole stadium. I heard a lot of people cursing and over reacting because Mexico lost 0-7. My dad started to really get sad/angry which makes me think that maybe people just have a lot of passion for the game and don't like to see their team lose.

  3. Even at my soccer games I've experienced parents and coaches being ejected because of their aggression. Sometimes people who are not playing just don't understand the view of the players and can get a little too far ahead of themselves. If someone is yelling at you it is better to just stay calm because that'll often make the other person realize how irrational they are acting.
