Is OJ a Sell-Out

From the documentary many students have been wondering if OJ is a sell-out. He seems to be taking every opportunity to make himself more rich and famous while avoiding anything that could harm his success, for example, speaking up about police brutality or unfair treatment of black people. Although that is a very valid point, I do not believe he is a sell out. I think that all people, to an extent, would put themselves before others and put their success before problems that don’t directly affect them. Human nature is to put your survival and your success over anything else. From an outsider's point of view it may be easy to judge someone for doing that or say they’re selfish or ungrateful but if you were put in the same position you would probably do exactly what OJ did. Just because he is rich and famous doesn’t necessarily mean he owes anyone else. He doesn’t necessarily owe the people that suffered before him and he doesn’t owe anyone that's fighting for black rights. No one knows if he would've been as successful without those people struggling before him but in the end it was his hard work and skill that got him to where he was in society.

  1. yes he got to the top alone, but without everyone that was fighting for rights, he would not. Who knows but I do not think so, and I think he does owe people because you can not get to the top alone. it is not possible, you need people to get to the top. he does owe people.

    1. I do agree that other people helped him get there but they didn't fight for HIM. They fought for their race as a whole, he just happened to have the ability to take advantage of the situation. Without his skill it doesn't matter what other people did, he would not have gotten to where he was.
