North-South Korean Relations
Just recently, Kim Jong Un and Moon Jae-in (North Korean and South Korean leaders respectively) met together at the North-South Korean border for a peace summit. During this summit, both leaders made landmark assertations and agreements in Korean relations. Kim Jong Un vows to discontinue nuclear tests, and both countries agree that denuclearization is a goal they share. Both parties vow for a true peace agreement, where both parties can cooperate peacefully at an equal level. This is a huge change from Kim Jong Un's side, as in this past year, it has seemed that North Korean policy was escalation over peace. This is a landmark meeting, as it is the first time in many decades that both leaders have met and reached a common goal. At the end of this meeting, both signed a document affirming their goals for peace, denuclearization, and cooperation of both sides.
