After watching the documentary about undocumented immigrants from Cuba and Mexico, I felt like I better understood their perspective but it did not change how I viewed the issue. I think that even if you are contributing to society or have a family or whatever, you are breaking the law and should be deported and forced to follow the same citizenship process as everyone else that has come here. Sure it may be unreasonably difficult, which should change, but it’s unfair to everyone here legally to expect to just be able to walk in and be welcome and get all of the same privileges as actual citizens. It’s not necessarily the US not wanting immigrants, it’s a matter of safety and fairness. Millions of undocumented people in a country as large as the US just adds to the chaos.
