Cyntoia Brown

In 2004, 16 year old Cyntoia Brown was sex-trafficked by a pimp named "cut-throat." After days of being repeatedly drugged and raped by different men, she was sold and bought by a 43 year old child predator, Johnny Allen. Once the predator bought Brown, he took her back to his house to use for sex. Once, Brown finally built up the courage, she grabbed a gun and shot the 43 year old man. Soon after, she is arrested for killing the man, sentenced to life imprisonmnent, and is tried as an adult... at 16 years old. She is eligible for parole when she turns 69 years old. Currently in prison, she is working towards a bachelor's degree at Lipscomb University. There is a petition currently being signed to get her parole eligibility sooner. What do you guys think about the whole thing? Did the justice system disappoint again and ignore the bigger picture here?

  1. I may be missing something here but I can't believe that the justice system would convict her of murder when he was raping her after he bought her. She has had a horrible life and finally had a chance to get away from it and then the court knocks her down again. I don't see why this wouldn't fall under self-defense because I would say that this child predator was attacking her and she had to defend herself.

  2. I agree that she shouldn't have been convicted of murder when what she did WAS to protect herself from a child predator. I'm was extremely disappointed when the story first came out but even more so when it didn't make it to mainstream media and many people didn't know about this

  3. Based on what I have read, the justice system did fail, because this was self defense. I truly hope there was something else in play, because otherwise this would be an unjust conviction.
