Who agreed to the cancellation of our tutorial time today? Personally, I thought it was a lame move because we were all held accountable for the actions of a few students. I also think that this doesn't solve anything because there will always be students who will try to leave the campus. Tutorial has probably been around long enough for the principal and the teachers to realize that there will be students that try to leave campus, overall it was a random decision.
I feel like tutorial should not be canceled. Ms. Satterwhite should accept that some students won't take advantage of extra time given to them and that is their loss. Others should not be stripped of their privileges just because of others.

ReplyDeleteTutorial is beneficial for many students. I personally think the school should think about it as another break or lunch. Students and teachers should still be able to use it as tutorial if they want. School is over protective on what students do during tutorial. Students who are forced into a class, usually are disruptive for all the other students around working.
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree with you on that one. It is called tutorial for a reason. It is not that they are being "over protective", it is that they are putting an effort to provide a time when students can meet with their teachers and do work, so that they don't have to do it during brunch and lunch so that students DO get a break for a little during brunch and lunch. And let's be real, most of the students don't take advantage of that time. The school isn't going to tolerate that so they do have the right to take it away from us as a consequence.
Deletealthough it does suck that they can take tutorial away Valerie is correct and if some students don't start using their time wisely we will all face the consequences. I think that when students decide not to show up for tutorial they should think about the fact they they are not only affecting themselves but others as well.
ReplyDeleteI think that it held everyone accountable was the point. They can't punish every single person and keep track on who doesn't use tutorial time correctly. Even though we do not agree with cancelling tutorial, Ms. Satterwhite and the administration can't always be "Mr. Nice Guy" Unfortunately, this is just something we have to deal with even if it sucks. Not everyone here is responsible and cares about our given extra time to work.
ReplyDeleteI think by cancelling tutorial the teachers and staff expect that next time students will be more grateful of it. However, the people who use the tutorial time as expected are not really getting a fair treatment because they are being punished for other's actions. The people who leave campus should be punished separately or not at all. It is their choice whether they want to use the time they are given wisely and if they don't they can suffer their own consequences.
