Who were the black panthers

The black panther party was a revolutionary black nationalist and socialist organization founded by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale in Oakland California in 1966. The purpose of the black panthers was to stand up to police brutality, help, and protect their neighborhoods. They instituted a variety of community social programs, one of the programs was Free Breakfast for Children, where they would go to school cafeterias in the morning and have breakfast set up for them. This shows how the black panthers weren't just protesting but helping the ones the government does help and doesn't care about. This must of been very exciting and relieving for families because they don't have to be worried with their children being hungry. I find it interesting how this organization was made like 30 years ago and still today we are suffering from food injustice and police brutality.
