MS 13 Gang Member
For Mr. Trump, every possible crisis that is a part of America’s immigration system becomes an opportunity. Last Wednesday an MS 13 Gang Member who was wanted of murder and terrorism was detained by ICE. Juan Serravia present Salvadorean national was located and arrested.Hes been subsequently been ordered to be “removed” on April 18th by a judge. On October 1st 2009, ERO has removed more than 1,789 foreigners. 66% of those that are arrested by ICE are those that are convicted in crimes. The other percentages are just people who have come to the US illegally. This not only affects those that are being arrested and detained but especially for those that have family members that were born in the US. Kids could get separated from their parents which means that they will be put up to foster care or go with their parents. It’s truly heartbreaking. Back to the MS 13 Gang. MS 13 is an international criminal gang that was originated in Los Angeles California. Members of the MS characterize themselves wit multiple tattoos some on their face and their own sign language. They are one of the most dangerous if not, the most dangerous gang.
Hurricane Maria
A new study has estimated that Hurricane Maria’s Death Toll could exceed 4,000 in Puerto Rico. Winds, flooding and landslides are likely to occur which would mean a loss of power, energy as well as not being able to drink any water. In statistics shown by The New York Times, has found that 1,052 more people than usual died across the island. There are protocols being made in need of an evacuation. This hurricane is very dangerous for the people of Puerto Rico. Evacuation methods are the same as the one being made for people in Hawaii’s Big Island. The problem only being that the US needs to provide more help and support in order to help the many children and families that are living in fear for what may occur if it gets too dangerous.
90 Days
Last Wednesday, a 79 year old businessman was charged for the rape of a 5 year old. The verdict was 90 days of house arrest and five years of probation. He pleaded no contest to the felony of statutory rape. The problem was that Lyle Burgees of Stockton does not have to register as a sex offender. The victim is now seven years old and is beyond traumatized for the events that have occurred. The victims father had known Burgees for almost two decades and had been surprised that someone so close to his family would be capable of doing that. In the article I read to this trial, mentioned that the young girl is going through so much and feels very damaged. According to Maleyco, “She’s showing all the symptoms of someone who has been molested. She’s in counseling and could be in counseling for the rest of her life.”
An’s documentary
In An’s documentary we learned about how video games are
under utilized tools for teaching things in life. I thought it was interesting
watching the documentary and seeing that there are uses for video games other
than purely entertainment. We hear so much about how video games are bad for us
that we overlook potential benefits of them.

Kilauea
The eruption of Kilauea in Hawaii's Big Island had destroyed dozens of homes and forced thousands of people to flee the island. The lava from the volcano contains toxic gases that are emitted into the atmosphere. The Hawaii volcano had pumped ash 11,000 ft into the air. Around 82 buildings have been destroyed and 50 structures have been damaged (update). On May 3rd, the eruption began and had wrecked 15,000 acres of land. There has been danger with the toxic fumes in the air that have now reached the Pacific. The gas is called sulphur dioxide which contains oxygen and oxidized sulphur. It could be difficult to breathe and it's a struggle especially with those that have asthma. The closure of the park itself costs around $166 million and the lost revenue has risen to $222 million when about 2K jobs have been affected. According to De Moor, a volcanologist, the eruptions of the volcano will not cause any earthquakes or trigger tsunami's. Despite the volcano emitting lots of carbon dioxide, it won't worsen global warming to a severe degree. The truth is that the eruptions are more likely to cool the earth than to warm it up. Now there has been evacuations of any islanders that are living anywhere nearby the volcano and helicopters have gotten involved as well.
Jason’s documentary
In Jason’s documentary we learned about net neutrality and
how it is being dismantled in Washington. The major cable companies have for
years lobbied to remove these rules primarily as a way to make more money.
Democrats recently tried to pass a vote in the senate delaying the net
neutrality repeal. This measure succeeded in the senate but is expected to fail
in the house.

Rwanda Genocide
The Rwanda Genocide was a brutal and heartbreaking event that took place in 1994, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 800,00 Tutsi as well as some Hutu that sympathized for the Tutsi. The perpetrators were the Hutu-lead government as well as the Interhamwe and Impuzamugambi militias.
In the 1990's, the Rwandese Patriotic Front (RPF) consisted of mostly Tutsi refugees. They invaded Rwanda from Uganda. In August 1993, Habyarimana, signed an agreement at Arusha for transition government.

Good Bye Letter
This is the hardest thing I had to do. I can't believe we graduate next year it's blown my mind and to say the truth I don't know what the future will hold for me. What I do know is that I will do my best to make Ms.B and Mr. S proud of who I will become in the future. I will always remember the fun memories that we have all shared in 3 third period not to mention, 4th period I hope to see everyone again someday and to stay in touch so we don't lose our bond formed in this class. This next week will be a happy/sad week for me I hope you all are happy and stay optimistic about what each and everyone can do I see great things waiting for us all in the future.
Income inequality
In my documentary I wanted to focus on income inequality.
Income inequality has been the worst it has been since around the time of the
great recession and people are not talking about to the degree they need to. It
has been shown that income inequality has correlation with many issues like
obesity, school performance, and many other things. I was hoping that my
documentary could bring attention to this issue.

Rwandan Genocide
In class we learned about the Rwandan genocide and why the US
did not try to stop it. It was documented that the US did not intervene because
they felt that they would risk American lives in the process. With the rise of
people wanting isolationist policies in the US, would we be in a good position
to prevent future genocides in the world?
Brian’s documentary
In class Brian did a very interesting documentary about the
Iraq war were he talked about how Iraq war is an example of a war that was not
well planned out and how we need to learn lessons from it to improve our
foreign policy in the future. In April the Trump administration made John
Bolton the National security advisor to the administration. Bolton is one of
the biggest advocates for the invasion of Iraq and even looking back thinks
that invading Iraq was a better decision than withdrawing from it. With this
guy having influence over foreign policy, will we make the same mistakes we
made with Iraq?
