Why It's "Feminism" and Not "Womanism"

Often misconstrued as misandry, which is the belief that women are better than men (and therefore not feminism), third-wave feminism receives a lot of criticism and backlash as a movement; some even view it as being oppressive to men. Women are now afraid to call themselves feminists out of fear that they will be labeled as "man-hating". Though it is not inherently obvious, feminism does address issues that are important to men, like toxic masculinity and body image issues that stems from patriarchal beliefs. No matter what a selected percentage of the movement choose to do in the name of feminism, the core beliefs and work of the movement is still about equality between the sexes. It aims to put the spotlight on the idea that the feminine is just as powerful as the masculine, no matter the gender of the person displaying the feminine or masculine qualities.
A woman has the rights to her body and sexuality as much as a man has the rights to feel emotions and insecurities. Feminism highlights the feminine, not just the women.
