A look back on Jack Johnson
When we were watching the extensive and entertaining documentary on Jack Johnson I had grown immersed in it as it gave me a sense of familiarity. Where I had picked up this feeling of familiarity was how he grew from nothing to someone who has a roll of money where ever he goes that he gained in a profession that he basically reined over beating down whoever opposed him in just a couple swings. He had the world's attention on him where ever he went to. He gained a vast amount of wealth that he would waste in a matter of days and still have more to blow the next day in the fights he takes part in. With it, he owns a nice house and even buys one for his mama. In a sense, I'm trying to say that Jack Johnson reminds me of O.J. They both came from nothing and boosted up to a high level of success but with it, they were brought down by all the horrible decisions they made with only Jack Johnson being able to recover from it. Which is a good thing because O.J deserved everything coming at him. Johnson, all be it, had become a better person at the end after his wife had died from killing herself. He had even stated that he had become depressed since the event had taken place. The development I saw in him was what could have been if O.J had not been the person he was. Jack Johnson was an example of what he could have been if had not chosen the route he took. He would have not been a murder that was outcasted by society and thrown in the pits of obscurity scrounging up at the bottom of the barrel to make money after being put in prison. The two of these men were both tragic American dreams that were drawn to an end.

I like how Jack Johnson would get a ticket for speeding and then gave the officer $100 because he said that he was going to come back the same way and driving fast.
