I really enjoyed Valerie's senior project on puppy mills. It opened my eyes to some of the inhumane acts performed on these helpless animals. The fact that there are people out there that do this is unimaginable. It also raises the question about laws surrounding these puppy mills. There needs to be more regulation to ensure that these dogs get the help and comfort they deserve and need. I now know that when I am going to get another dog I will rescue one instead of buying from online.
I too thought that Valerie's topic was very interesting since as a dog owner myself it struck a string and how someone could establish one of these puppy mills or even work there is pretty gross.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think Valerie's senior project held a lot of value and was a good thing to bring up despite the sadness. I have 3 dogs, 1 rescue and 2 dogs from a friend who had too many babies. I had never heard of puppy mills before and glad that I had learned about them now and know to stay away.
ReplyDeleteThe regulations that they have don't protect these animals. While doing research about what the USDA protects, it was disturbing hearing that they only provide the owners to have dogs "healthy enough to produce". But what about the puppies who don't get the proper health? What about the puppies that don't get the food and socialization that they need to grow healthy? Not a lot of people know of these puppy mills and that's why I did this topic. To inform you guys that this is a thing.
