I think the girl in the documentary is kind of an outlier on the topic of how girls dress at her age and how they act. Since she knowingly talks about her outfits and calls them "hoey" yet wears every revealing item she had just judged. She also is part of a group that tries to spread the word of how girls shouldn't pose revealing pics on their social media and does just that.
I totally agree. The fact that she was able to address the issues revolving around the outfits girls wear, but then yet go against everything she said. She even voices the dangers and meaning behind lyrics and clothing, spreading awareness in plays. Its quite fascinating and I wonder how much she truly takes into consideration.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The part that most shocks me is that the parents let it be they comfront her but its more like why do you do this ans not You have to stop doing this. The joke she made about geting free rides by "blowing them".
ReplyDeleteShe is a major outlier due to her openness with her parents and how she is pretty self aware on what she is doing. She seems a little hypocritical at times when she talks about girls having to dress scantily, and seemingly excludes herself from the conversation.
ReplyDeleteThere does seem to be some cognitive dissonance in her thinking, but it's important to keep in mind that she's 12/13/14. Her mindset could be changing as she grows up, especially in the volatile time of puberty.
ReplyDeleteI do think it's important for someone to talk to her and have a mature conversation about it though, so she understands and hopefully reconciles her contradictory thinking.
