Drinking age
Would lowering the drinking age be beneficial or cause issues? If the government lowered the drinking age to 18 rather than 21 could be very positive. It would mean that younger people would be drinking in safer, supervised environments rather than going around and hiding/drinking illegally. According to statistics there are also less drunk driving accidents in places where the drinking age is 18 years old. The thrill of being young and drinking would also diminish so less people might be tempted to drink alcohol because it is not as "cool." However drinking at such a young age could also be very dangerous and having a drinking age of 21 reduces the number of underage drinkers and the amount of alcohol consumed. Overall, do you think the drinking age in the US should be reduced or not?

Drinking at such a young age honestly damages your brain. I don't know much about this topic but I know that in other countries, kids who have a lower drinking age have more control of what they are doing when it comes to drinking. Teenagers in the United States drink to have fun and the thrill of not being able to drink whenever makes it so that they drink like crazy when they go to parties. I think reducing it may honestly be a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI agree – I think that lowering the drinking age would most likely make it safer for people to drink and would help younger people avoid accidents.
ReplyDeleteI do believe since we are the only country that has a drinking age of 21 and in not being able to be taught how to responsibly drink while still under a roof of a gaurdian one will not understand the affects I also believe this is why we have the biggest party schools in the world because everyone who never drank in highschool now wants to go out and experiment whereas in every other country alot of people are abit partied out.
