The Arrest of the Golden State Killer
Recently in the news, there have been various reports of a man Joseph James DeAngelo a former ex cop as being the Golden State Killer. There were a lot of reports from his neighbors who said he was a little odd, they reported he kept to himself mainly, he would yell at people coming to close to his fence, and even yelling at those who mowed their lawns too early. For 40 years police tried to put together the pieces as to who was the serial killer that murdered 12 people, raped over 50, achieved over 100 burglaries from 1974 to 1986. Until on April 24,2018 he was arrested after his DNA came back a match. Its crazy how you never really know who the person in the house next to you or across the street really is. A lot of people say they know what a suspicious person looks like or someone who does wrong. But do we really? or do we just go based off of that image of the "bad guy" we were shown as children?. In most cases it was the nicest and "normal" person who was the criminal. So can we really say we can tell who doesn't belong?.

I believe everyone has a opinion of a bad person and not everyones definition is the same of bad person. But I believe that our idea of a bad person is shaped by the media, we go on the news and see a rapist and go oh that's a rapist he clearly looks like one.
ReplyDeleteI have seen some documentaries about this Golden State Killer and the fact that he has been in hiding for so long and how he got away with so many robberies, murders, and raping lots of people.
