Racism

When we were watching the Jack Johnson documentary today and talked about how the journalists and announcers switched assumptions or phrases between races in boxers, it reminded me about present day announcers and how they do the same but in a way less racist way or not knowingly doing so. For example when I was watching a soccer game the other day there was two similar players one white and one latino, they both were players that dribbled a lot and have very good skill but the announcers always would applaud the white player as being technical and very thoughtful with his movement and when referring to the latinos same play style would say he has great flair and is naturally gifted figuring out the moves as he goes. Or in a basketball game where the announcers will always applaud black athletes about their physicality or the toughness and the white player with their technique or smart moves. None were meant to be racist and most were unknowingly doing this I just thought this was a cool observation and was reminded when we were watching the documentary and paused to converse about this.
