Was he wrong?

During the film Schindler´s List, we viewed in the beginning as Schindler sat on a hill top watching as Jews were rounded up and being sent to concentration camps, he seemed sort of affected by it but still rode away on his horse. Towards the end of the film we seen as Schindler bought thousands of Jews from other camps and had them sent to his camp for labor. He used them as workers and used the products they produced for his own profit. But these Jews were not allowed to be killed or hurt for no reason because of that many Jews lived on. Some may view him as both a bad and good person, yes he saved the Jews from being killed in the other camps, but he did use them for his own profit. Was Schindler wrong for keeping the Jews for his own profit? If he did not have them in his own camp would majority of them be alive today?.

  1. I believe that Schindler was wrong for keeping the Jews for his own profit because they are people too and if he never had done that many innocent people may be alive today. I think towards the end Schindler felt guilty for his actions and for what he was doing to many innocent people. I felt like Schindler changed his mind by wanting to help out the Jews when he saw a little girl in a red dress hiding from the SS men. Later while he was walking around he saw a pile of bodies and the little girls body was in the pile.

  2. Schindler kept Jews for profit as a way to run his business. And yes, it was wrong to use them only for their labor, but he just did this at the beginning. He genuinely wanted to help them out. He asked his secretary to continue adding names to his list so that more Jews would be send to his factory. He made sure that these Jews wouldn't get killed. He told soldiers to not kill the children because their "fingers are good for polishing bullet casings". And even though he used the excuse of the labor the kids were good for, he only said that to save their lives. Schindler even started to lose business because of this. He was giving 1000+ Jews shelter, food, and safety. Majority of them would not be alive if Schindler hadn't saved them.
