Terrorism has it been forgotten?
As more and more time goes by we see that talks about terrorism or attempts of terrorist attacks in the USA have died down. But could it be that people just don't have the time anymore to pay attention to what is happening or are not well informed. When we talk about terrorist attacks we think of a guy from the middle east that blew up something. But we are blinded, and we don't see that there is so much terrorism happening in the USA. We see attacks like the Boston bombing and we take that as a terrorism attack in the USA but what about the killings what about the people that go out and kill others because its their "beliefs". Why is it that, that isn't terrorism and they are labeled as "crazy" people how many more shootings and killings isn't gonna take for us to see that a terrorist can also be a person that is white or that is black or Mexican, it doesn't always have to be a middle eastern. So my question is have we forgotten that America is constantly under terrorist attacks all the time or are we gonna label the terrorist as crazy people?

You bring up some great points. It is fascinating how we separate the ideas behind a terrorist attack and being crazy. I think that we need to have a stable understanding of what we define terrorism under. Because if action by crazy people are done under religious beliefs etc, then I agree that should be labeled as terrorism. I think we are ignorant and want to ignore the fact of all the things happening.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the perception of a terrorist in america tends to be that of a person of middle eastern descent. This in addition to comments made by the alt right an even our president has made Muslims people lives harder in the US as they experience more open discrimination and prejudice. What I've seen when it comes to massacres and terrorist is that if they're a person of color who is darker skinned they are labeled as monsters while white killers/terrorist are just mentally unstable or had a rough childhood while showing a picture of them in the boy scouts or with family and friends.
ReplyDeleteGood points ! Yes in the U.S. terrorist are usually from the middle east. I think If people do something that kills a large group of people because of religious reasons it should be called terrorism .
