Magnified Hollywood
There are a lot of sexual harassment cases that are being brought to light this past month in Hollywood. I thought it was interesting the chain effect that the Weinstein case had on Hollywood and how it has lead to many more cases being told. I also thought how it was interesting how the whole country has been more affected by these cases then by numerous others in the sports industry or in even everyday life.

I think people are more affected by them because they see actors that they have grown to love being called out for things. The American public often views actors as what the characters they play and gloss over who they are as a person. Their like for the character in the show transfers to the actor, perhaps undeserved. So when the wall is broken down and we find out celebrities are humans too it shakes us because if even they are flawed then the whole world has no hope. This is a cognitive distortion but one people make nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteI think that the realization of that you are not alone in the sexual harassment really helps make you come out and charge the guy who did it to you. I feel that thats why all of these cases are just coming to light and because of how the news work all of cases get bigger.
