Earlier this month, a CNN report caused outrage on a global level when it brought attention to the slave auctions that are occurring in Libya (see: here). Yet, despite having videos and live witness account of the issue, the Libyan government was able to divert some attention away from the clear human rights violation by discrediting CNN via President Trump's tweets.
Political beliefs and parties aside, we really have to consider the reckless manner in which the sitting president uses social media as a mean of communication because it is being utilize to discredit a genuine attempt to bring attention to a serious issue.
With the increase involvement of technology in our political climate, will we be seeing guidelines and policy dictating how government officials communicate with the public?
