We have recently been studying the shooting of Michael Brown and the Ferguson Grand Jury Trial. So far, I have found listening to everyone’s volumes very interesting, but also extremely confusing. In every volume, it seems that there are some discrepancies between every witness. For example, in my own reading of volume six, two witnesses said completely different things. One witness claimed that Michael Brown was not a threat, as he had his hands up and did not step towards the officer, while another witness stated that he took two or three aggressive strides at Officer Wilson before he was shot. Furthermore, many witnesses have stated that Michael Brown was punching Darren Wilson through the car window, and others have said that he never touched Officer Wilson. These extreme discrepancies make it difficult to form an accurate timeline of the entire event, most importantly the actions and movements of Darren Wilson and Michael Brown. Based on the volumes that have been presented in class, I can understand why the grand jury decided not to indict Darren Wilson. What are your thoughts on the information in the volumes that have been presented so far?
