"What whites don't know about racism" article

I read the "what whites don't know about racism" article from Edmodo, and there was a point that I didn't exactly agree with. The article talked about white privilege, and I believe that is there in many cases, but it also claimed that white Americans don't know about racism and discrimination. I understand that most white Americans have not been discriminated against like minorities have, but I also feel like there is starting to be an attack on white Americans. They are told they are always racist and unaware, yet I feel like white American's are more aware than ever. Many like Ms. B show their concern and work hard to put racism behind us. I understand that there are still some whites that are racist, but I think it is unfair to categorize a race as a whole for being racist.

  1. I completely agree. I believe there are countless people, especially in our area, focusing on ways to improve social and racial injustices, but sometimes whites are grouped together as all being racist rather than the groups that actually are.

  2. I kinda dis agree, White people understand what goes on but they don't know the feelings that are associated from racism. It hard to understand the feeling of someone who is be treated unfairly for something out of their control. At the same time people do believe white people are blind to racism. They understand it just not the pain that comes with it.

  4. Denouncing racism is always a good thing, I don't see the problem with any race doing that. Though, I personally never felt that I was discriminated because of my race, so that may have shaped my view on this issue.
